Transition to Lilydale Heights

Lilydale Heights College has programs especially designed to help Year 7 students settle into their new environment.
A camp at the beginning of the year for all Year 7 students ensures that students come to know each other and their teachers. A series of combined Year 7 activities throughout the year build trust, confidence, self esteem, self discipline and interpersonal relationship skills.

The Peer Support Program is where trained Year 10 students act as caring leaders of small groups of Year 7 students. Groups meet for 1 period per week during Semester One, under the supervision of a teacher.

Pastoral Teachers meet with the students on a daily basis as part of the Pastoral Program. The Pastoral Program is designed to support and assist students in dealing with issues such as using the diary, organizing homework and study times, so that they are actively involved in their learning. The Pastoral Teacher takes the students for a minimum of 1 period per day and is also a contact person for students and parents if there are any concerns.

In Year 7, where possible, students will have the same teacher for more than one subject. Class groups or forms have a maximum of 25 students each (State average). This group stays together for all subjects in Year 7 except Sports Education where they elect a sport.
