Music Students Positions of Responsibility

Music Captains:

  • are ambassadors for the Music Program on behalf of the College
  • represent the College music students’ opinions and liaise between the music students and music staff
  • chair the Music Student Committee monthly meetings and provide a written Music Captains’ Report from each meeting
  • promote music activities to the student body and wider community
  • assist the music staff at Music Program events, whenever practical

In conjunction with the Music Captains, Music Student Representatives are expected to assist with music fundraising by:

  • attending all Music Student Committee events
  • encouraging student participation in fundraising activities
  • organising teams of students for fundraising events
  • be an avenue of communication between music students, Music Captains and music staff
  • assist with the organisation of groups at Music Program events, as required
  • attend regular meetings called by the Music Captains and/or music staff

Ensemble Manager

For each ensemble, one or two students will be selected. An ensemble manager’s role is to support the conductor. Ensemble managers assist by:

  • assist with the organisation of performances and excursions
  • hand out notices
  • collect permission slips for excursions
  • organise the movement of equipment
  • liaise with the Music Student Committee on behalf of the conductor

Friends of Music

One of the most valuable aspects of the LHC Music Program is the parents and friends support group called Friends of Music.

This group provides invaluable assistance with the planning and running of musical and non-musical events.
It also assists greatly with fundraising. Without the dedication of its members, the Music Program could not run as smoothly or as successfully as it does.

“Friends of Music” meets on about 5 occasions throughout the year.
