General Information
Lilydale Heights College Library is centrally located within the College providing easy access to all Learning Areas.
As the Resource Centre of the College, it plays a pivotal role in supporting the curriculum, developing research skills and providing for the reading interests of all. Teacher Librarians work closely with teachers to develop student research skills and improve learning outcomes for all students. Students are encouraged to become independent learners.
The collection is continually updated to ensure that it supports the curriculum needs of staff and students. Our fiction collection caters for all reading levels and interests.

Library Management System Software
Lilydale Heights College Library is fully automated with 'Oliver', a state of the art library system, using the latest web technology.
Oliver’s search options provide easy access to the extensive library collections, from any PC throughout the College. In addition to print material, Oliver provides access to web sites selected specifically for their relevance to the curriculum and reliability. Resource lists are created within Oliver for student research assignments, providing material at the click of a mouse.

Research Skills
Lilydale Heights College Library recognises the importance of research skills in improving learning outcomes for students. The whole school approach to research is designed to progressively develop and continually reinforce student skills, to enable students to maximise success in their studies and take their place in society as independent ongoing learners.
The use of a wide variety of media is facilitated, including print and electronic resources. The library web page provides the basis of the step by step process. Students are guided through all stages of the research process from defining what they need, locating, selecting, and organising material, to creating and evaluating their final product.

ICT in the Library
Electronic information sources are essential research tools. Lilydale Heights College Library provides students with access to an extensive collection of software, including encyclopedias and specialist multimedia titles. Internet access provides valuable current and world wide information extending the library beyond its walls. Access to online subscription services, extend the available resources to include journals, newspapers and reference material from Australia and around the world.
An interactive whiteboard facilitates effective teaching and learning of all aspects of ICT resources. Study Wiz, the College learning management system, enabless learning resources to be uploaded and accessed by all. Experienced Teacher Librarians provide guidance to navigating electronic information sources to locate relevant and accurate information efficiently.

Book Club
Book Club meets regularly in the College Library. The club is run by the elected committee, membership is open to all students. Keen readers are able to access new books first and share their impressions with others.
Book Club provides a friendly and supportive group, enabling students to form connections with others through a shared interest in reading and other activities.

Lunchtime in the Library
The Library is a hive of activity at lunchtime and recess as many students take the opportunity to use the computers, read a book or magazine, play board games or catch up on school work.
