Community

There are many ways to define and look at "COMMUNITY".

In all aspects and definitions there's a clear message that a College which recognises and values a HEALTHY PARTNERSHIP with its Community is well placed to develop that key goal of CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT in Student Learning. At Lilydale Heights we see that healthy partnership as essential to the life of the College.

Why? Well, it allows us to build on the "DYNAMIC" that does exist between parents and school. It also allows for greater opportunities for better student engagement in their learning and importantly it permits the development of new links with groups not only in education but in business and the vocational and Local Government and related agencies.

For these reasons the College actively promotes community links with and involvement in student learning and the sharing of common goals and responsibilities.

The development of a fully rewarded learner where the ACADEMIC, the CULTURAL and CIVIC and the SOCIAL are balanced and fully developed is not just an end in itself.

Lilydale Heights sees achieving this will of itself help promote a BETTER COMMUNITY for the future. The College likewise accepts its responsibilities to help create greater community acceptance and understanding of the GLOBAL COMMUNITY and break down barriers created by ignorance and prejudice and to help appreciate difference.
