VCE Requirments

At Lilydale Heights College most students study:
6 units minimum in each semester of their first VCE year
5 units in each semester of their second year

To be awarded the VCE a student must satisfactorily complete a minimum of SIXTEEN UNITS, which include:

  • 3 units from the English group
Foundation English or English Units 1 & 2, English or Literature Units 3 & 4

  • Three pairs of Units 3 and 4 studies other than English
(in total, this means Units 3 & 4 English or Literature
    PLUS
    Units 3 & 4 in 3 other subjects)

VCE/VET qualifications may contribute up to eight units with two pairs being Units 3/4 studies.

It is possible to complete a Unit 3 and 4 sequence at Year 11 if the student completed Unit 1 & 2 in Year 10 and has teacher recommendation to continue.
In exceptional situations
students may have the opportunity to begin a study at a Unit 3 and 4 level with out completing Units 1 and 2 in the subject.

The aim of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to excel in their VCE program in a successful manner and to provide a flexible program, which will meet the individual needs of students.
